AVIF to JPG Converter

Free, with no daily limit. Turn an AVIF into a JPG in this browser. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari decode AVIF themselves, so this page does not ship a separate AVIF library.

Or paste a picture. The file is not uploaded. On an iPhone, Choose photos may hand you a JPEG instead of the original HEIC. This page accepts that too.

Each file is fitted on its own. JPG and WebP try a lower quality first. PNG is made smaller, because it has no quality step.

JPG and PNG can keep camera details. WebP cannot keep the original details. The picture is saved right-side up.

How to convert

  1. 1. Add the AVIF files

Drop them or choose files. The browser decodes the AVIF. If it cannot, the row says so instead of sending the file anywhere.

  2. 2. Set quality

JPG is already selected. Quality starts at 85. See-through pixels, if the AVIF has them, sit on the background color because JPG cannot store them.

  3. 3. Download the JPG

One image downloads as a JPG. Several download as a ZIP. An animated AVIF becomes a still image.

Questions

Why not a special AVIF decoder?

Current browsers already decode AVIF. Adding another decoder would be a large library for a job the browser does. If this browser cannot read the file, export a JPG from the app that saved it.

Does AVIF to JPG upload the picture?

No. Decoding and encoding stay on this device. The header should stay at 0 bytes uploaded.

Will the JPG look the same?

AVIF is already a compressed picture. Saving JPG compresses it again. 85 is a practical default. Raise it toward 95 for a heavier file that stays closer to the decoded pixels.

What about an AVIF logo with transparency?

JPG has no transparency. Those pixels are mixed onto the background color, white unless you change it. Switch the format to PNG if you need the see-through areas.
