WebP to JPG Converter

WebP is common on the web and awkward in some older editors and inboxes. This page decodes it locally and writes a JPG. Transparent pixels sit on a color you pick, white by default.

Drop images or a folder

Or paste with Ctrl or Command V. Nothing is uploaded. Choose photos opens the iPhone photo library, which may hand over HEIC or a JPEG it already converted.

Options · quality 85 · strip GPS

Used for JPG and WebP. PNG stays lossless. Default is 85.

Resize
Metadata

JPG and PNG can keep camera tags. WebP is re-encoded without the original metadata container. Re-encoding sets orientation to upright.

How to convert

  1. 1. Drop the WebP files

One image or a folder. Paste works when the clipboard holds an image file. The queue shows each name, an estimated size, and any location data we can see.

  2. 2. Pick quality and background

Quality 85 is the default. If the WebP has transparent areas, those pixels are mixed onto the background color because JPG has no alpha channel.

  3. 3. Download the JPG

One file downloads as a JPG. More than one downloads as a ZIP made on this device. The row shows the actual byte size and how it compares with the original.

Questions

Will a transparent WebP logo look right as a JPG?

Only if the background color matches where you will place it. White is the default. Open Options and change the color for a dark page. For a logo you still need to composite, use WebP to PNG instead.

Does this upload the WebP?

No. The browser decodes WebP and encodes JPG in a worker. You can watch the Network panel: there should be no POST and no request to another origin while you convert.

Why might the JPG be larger than the WebP?

WebP is often more efficient than JPG at the same visual quality. Re-encoding at 85 can still be larger than a small WebP. Lower the quality, or resize, and read the percent saved after the run. The estimate beforehand is approximate.

Is animation preserved?

No. An animated WebP becomes the first frame the browser decodes, as a still JPG. This page is a still-image converter.

Can I keep the WebP's color profile and EXIF?

Metadata defaults to Strip GPS. Other tags are copied into the JPG when the browser and the file expose them. Strip all drops them. Canvas encoding does not preserve an ICC profile bit for bit.

Is there a limit on how many WebP files I can convert?

No. The only caution is memory. Very large images show a warning above about 500 MB. Convert them one at a time if a phone tab gets slow.
