How to convert

  1. 1. Add the GIF

    Drop one file or several. The queue shows the name before you convert.

  2. 2. Set the JPG

    JPG is already selected. Quality starts at 85. See-through GIF pixels sit on the background color, because a JPG cannot store them.

  3. 3. Download

    One GIF downloads as a JPG. Several download as a ZIP. If the GIF had more than one frame, the row says that only the first frame was kept.

Questions

Will the animation survive?

No. This page saves the first frame as a still JPG. It does not make a video and it does not make an animated WebP. Use GIF to PNG if you want the still with harder edges.

Why would I turn a GIF into a JPG?

Forms, email, and older apps often refuse a GIF. A meme or a logo that is really one picture is smaller and more widely accepted as JPG.

Is the GIF uploaded?

No. The browser reads the file here. The header should stay at 0 bytes uploaded.

The JPG looks blocky. What now?

A flat logo or a screenshot with text often looks worse as JPG. Switch the output to PNG, or open GIF to PNG, and compare the size on the row.
