How to convert

  1. 1. Add the GIF files

    Drop them or choose them. A JPG dropped here is pointed out. It is not quietly converted.

  2. 2. Leave PNG selected

    PNG is already chosen. It ignores the JPG quality slider. See-through pixels stay see-through, which a JPG would not allow.

  3. 3. Download the PNG

    One file downloads directly. A batch becomes a ZIP. A photo-like GIF may grow. A flat graphic often stays a sensible size.

Questions

Does PNG keep every frame?

No. Only the first frame is drawn. The page says so on the row when the GIF has more than one frame. This is a still converter, not a frame extractor.

When is PNG the better GIF target?

Logos, UI bits, and screenshots with text. JPG softens those edges. A photographic GIF is usually smaller as JPG, on GIF to JPG.

Are the files uploaded?

No. Nothing is posted to an API. The PNG is built in this tab.

Can I ask for a smaller PNG?

PNG has no quality step. Turn on Fit under a file size, or set a max width. The picture is scaled down until it fits, or the row says it could not.
