How to convert

Drop the file. A 24-bit or uncompressed BMP is the usual case. The queue estimates the JPG before you convert.

JPG is already selected. 85 is the start. Lower it for a smaller attachment. Raise it if the picture has text you still need to read.

Questions
Why is a BMP so large?
A BMP often stores every pixel outright. A 1920 by 1080 image can be several megabytes before any JPG compression. That is the point of converting it.
Which BMP files work?
The ones this browser can decode: common 24-bit and 32-bit Windows BMPs. Unusual old variants can fail. The row says so, and the file is still not uploaded.
Does this upload the BMP?

Should a line drawing stay a BMP?
Not usually. If the JPG looks muddy, switch the output to PNG. PNG is the better home for a diagram. JPG is the better home for a photo or a scan.
