Target size

8, 10, and 25 MB are search sizes. 20 MB is the free cap checked on October 25, 2026, and it is selected when this page opens. The file aims just under that cap. Nitro Basic is 50 MB and Nitro is up to 1 GB. Any size you type is from 1 MB to 500 MB. Discord’s File Attachments FAQ says the free maximum is 20 MB. On mobile, Discord checks the file size before it compresses. Safari 26 is required on iPhone. Cancel closes the compressor.

InBrowserConvert Pro (coming soon): batch, bigger files, no limits, still 100% on-device. $29 lifetime or $19/yr.

The file stays on this device

This is a Discord video compressor in the browser only. The video is not posted to a conversion API. Cancel stops the work and closes the compressor.

A phone runs one video at a time and refuses a file past about 160 MB. A computer allows about 400 MB in, and the 500 MB preset as an output target. Those ceilings are there so the tab is not killed.

8 MB, 10 MB, and 25 MB are search sizes

On October 25, 2026, Discord’s File Attachments FAQ says free uploads are 20 MB, Nitro Basic is 50 MB, and Nitro is up to 1 GB. The 20 MB preset is selected when the page opens and aims just under that cap, about 19.2 MB, with the same headroom as the other presets. 8 MB, 10 MB, and 25 MB are still what people type when they search for compress video for Discord. They are presets here, not Discord’s current named tiers. Any size means a target from 1 MB to 500 MB.

On mobile, Discord now checks the file size before it compresses the attachment. Desktop does the same check. The MP4 this page downloads is the file you would attach, so the size on the button is the size that counts.

How to convert

  1. 1. Add an MP4, MOV, or WebM

Drop the video or choose it from this phone or computer. On iPhone and Android the system picker hands the file to this page. It is not sent to a server.

  2. 2. Pick a size

8 MB, 10 MB, and 25 MB are sizes people still search for. 20 MB is the free upload cap checked on October 25, 2026. 50 MB matches Nitro Basic. 500 MB sits under Nitro’s 1 GB. You can also type a custom size from 1 to 500 MB.

  3. 3. Download the MP4

The page estimates a bitrate from the length, writes an H.264 and AAC MP4, and does a second pass if the first file is still over the target. Cancel closes the compressor. One video runs at a time.

Questions

Does this Discord video compressor upload the file?

No. Compress video for Discord on this page means the browser does the work. There is no account and no watermark. The header should stay at 0 bytes uploaded. The privacy page shows the network-panel check.

Can I compress video for Discord under 10 MB?

Yes. The 10 MB preset aims under 9.6 MB, so the file fits a 10 MB check whether the app counts decimal megabytes or binary mebibytes. The same headroom is used for every preset.

Is there a Discord video compressor for 8 MB?

Yes. 8 MB is a preset because that size is still a common search, including on older compressor sites. It is not a current Discord plan name.

What about 20 MB and 25 MB?

20 MB is a preset because it is Discord’s free upload cap, checked on October 25, 2026. The button is labeled with that cap and that date. 25 MB is a preset because people still search for a Discord video compressor at 25 MB. 25 MB is a target you can pick here. It is not Discord’s current free cap.

What are Discord’s upload limits as of October 25, 2026?

Discord’s File Attachments FAQ, updated September 30, 2026, says the free maximum is 20 MB, up from 10 MB in August 2026: https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/25444343291031-File-Attachments-FAQ. Discord also says it is experimenting, so some accounts can send more. The same FAQ says Nitro Basic is 50 MB and Nitro is up to 1 GB. The Nitro page lists those same two figures. Older guides still quote 10 MB for free and 500 MB for Nitro. This page does not pretend 10 MB or 25 MB is the official cap. On mobile, Discord now checks the file size before it compresses the attachment, the same check it makes on desktop. The MP4 this page downloads is the file you would attach.

Why keep 50 MB and 500 MB?

50 MB matches the Nitro Basic figure in the FAQ. 500 MB is under the 1 GB Nitro figure, and it is the number older cap tables still publish. A phone refuses 500 MB because that buffer is larger than the 160 MB phone ceiling. A computer can run it.

Can I compress video for Discord without losing quality?

Not in the sense of a perfect copy. Fitting a long video into 8 MB or 10 MB means a lower bitrate, and the picture gets softer. A larger target keeps more detail. The page will not crush a video below a usable bitrate. It asks you to pick a larger size or a shorter clip instead. There is no watermark on the MP4.

Can I compress video for Discord on iPhone?

Yes, in Safari 26 or newer, which can encode H.264 with WebCodecs. Older iOS shows an error and does not upload the video. A phone also stops around 160 MB, so the 500 MB preset is for a computer.

Which files does this page actually accept?

MP4, MOV, and WebM. The result is one MP4 with H.264 video. Audio, when the file has any, is AAC at about 96 kbps. A silent video stays silent. Other formats are refused, and they are not uploaded.
